Home Run – A multi core, multi circuit cable pre-wired into a Primary Distribution Hub (PDH).

Primary Distribution Hub (PDH) – A pre-wired and pre-assembled multi socket distribution box in which “home runs” are terminated and out-going circuits connected via extender leads.

Extender Lead – A pre-wired cable assembly of varying length with a plug & socket wired at each end allowing items of equipment to be connected as a final circuit. I.E looping between luminaires.

Starter Lead – A pre-wired cable assembly of varying length with a socket at one end and free end on the other. Usually used to start a circuit in place of a “PDH”.

Spider Lead – A pre-wired cable assembly of varying length with a plug at one end and free end on the other. Usually used to hard wire into a luminaire from a Lighting Control Module (LCM).

Switch Module – A range of pre-wired, pre-assembled connectors housed in a moulded unit to provide inclusion of manual switches and presence detection into the system.

Tee Module – A range of pre-wired, pre-assembled connectors housed in a moulded unit allowing the provision to branch off the circuit. I.E at each luminaire.

Lighting Control Module – A unit housing pre-wired connectors offering varying degrees of interaction with the connected luminaires, from manual switching, presence detection, dimming and communication.

Presence Detection – A ceiling or luminaire mounted electronic switching device that detects movement using either Passive Infra Red (PIR detector) or Microwaves (microwave detector).

DSI (Digital Signal Interface) – A dimming/communicating protocol used to alter the light output of luminaires from a compatible sensor or control equipment.

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) – A dimming/communicating protocol used to alter the light output of a luminaire from a compatible sensor or control equipment.
